Homework Support Program

We need volunteers to spend a maximum of 1.5 hours per week with a group of primary school students who need support with their homework.
Children in our learning club may need extra help with reading, numeracy or social skills and may be experiencing learning difficulties.

Our learning club aims to provide a safe, comfortable environment for the children. The group meets once a week on Monday, after school hours, at Broadmeadows Learning Club - Meadows Primary School.

Each volunteer tutor works on a one-to-one basis with a student to assist them with their homework. The skills needed by each volunteer tutor include:

  • effective communication and listening skills
  • reliability
  • empathy
  • literacy and numeracy skills adequate to support school students
  • a commitment to developing the educational skills of children.

Volunteer tutors are asked to commit to the group once a week for the school year (term time only).

If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Tutor, please contact the Co-ordinator Sally Richter – Email: srichter@mcm.org.au or call 03 9385 3200 to leave a message with reception for Sally to contact you.
