How to apply

How Do I Apply?

  1. You will need to contact a Community Friend Program Co-ordinator so we can discuss the program and how you may wish to become involved. If you fill out the Community Friend Program Enquirer form (see link below) we will then make contact with you.
  2. After we have spoken to you, we will send you a Position Description, our booklet “Information for Potential Volunteers”, and an Application Form.
  3. Upon receiving your completed application form, we will schedule a time for you to come in to talk about the program and your interest in becoming a volunteer, at our office in Brunswick. This normally takes around an hour.
  4. You will need to undergo a National Criminal History Record Check.

How will I be matched to a Community Friend Participant or a Community Friend Social Group?

  • Following your interview, the co-ordinators will look at matching you to a group that requires another volunteer, or to a participant who would like a one-to-one friendship. We will discuss the options with you and check to see if this sounds like what you are interested in.
  • We then carefully match the participant or group and the volunteer, taking into account such factors as interest, background, personalities and location.
