Chelsea, an eleven-year-old inspiration

A young shining light of generosity and thoughtfulness has shone on Melbourne Citymission, in the shape of Chelsea, an inspiring eleven-year-old from Cowwarr, Victoria.
After watching Melbourne Citymission’s short film One Day, Chelsea decided that instead of asking Santa for Christmas presents, she would donate money to Melbourne Citymission instead.
Chelsea’s mum, Nicole, is very proud of her daughter and said "Chelsea is chuffed that everyone thinks so much of her donation. In her letter to Santa she said that although it would be a challenge to go without presents, she really wanted to help others. She has blown all of us away. So many people who she told in the lead up to Christmas tried to talk her out of it and didn't think she would go through with it, but when it came down to it, she did and just seemed to take it in her stride.”
Chelsea and Nicole visited us at our office in King Street and met our CEO, Rev Ric Holland, who explained about some of the great work Melbourne Citymission does every day. Chelsea was delighted to hear about the programs and services which help so many people and handed over her $210 donation very proudly.
A huge thank you to Chelsea for your generosity, we are all very touched by your kind donation and big heart.
