Commending the Compass Clubhouse

Congratulations to Sally Green the Co-ordinator of Melbourne Citymission’s Compass Clubhouse on attaining the Individual Victorian Disability Sector Award 2011.

The Compass Clubhouse is a community-based house that welcomes people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). This Award recognises all of Sally’s hard work in the development of the Clubhouse; Sally has been pivotal in establishing the Clubhouse model for people in the Melbourne community and for her commitment to the principles of social justice.

Compass Clubhouse members take part in activities which support the day-to-day running of the Clubhouse, in order to develop their self-confidence, a sense of community and belonging. Sally works alongside the members to encourage them to build a socially inclusive environment at the Clubhouse.

The Victorian Disability Sector Awards (VDSA) provide the opportunity to recognise and honour the achievements and valued role of people providing support, leadership, services and education of the highest standards that lead to improving the life of a person with a disability in Victoria.

The Awards celebrate and acknowledge those who demonstrate excellence, passion, vision and commitment to the development of self for people with a disability to achieve their life goals, through upholding their rights and choices in a way that promotes inclusion.
