Melbourne Design Market

The Melbourne Design Market is Melbourne’s original design market, making Melbourne Citymission, Melbourne’s oldest charity, the perfect choice when the market organisers decided to partner with a Melbourne-based charity earlier this year.
The Design Market runs biannually and is held at the level 3 car park, Federation Square, with the next one taking place on Sunday 4 December 10am – 4pm.
The first collaboration was in July this year, where textile design and retail group Spacecraft and young people from Melbourne Citymission's Print Side Up program produced a series of slogan based t-shirts which were screen printed and sold at the market. The day was a huge success, with the young people able to serve the customers who bought their t-shirts.
This time round, the collaboration is with Ingrid Tufts, a leading Melbourne Ceramicist, who lovingly makes a series of beautiful handmade homewares. Participants from Melbourne Citymission's VCAL program took part in a workshop at The Precinct to produce a series of images which will be fired onto 25 ceramic cups and sold at the Design Market, for $25 each.

Melbourne Citymission
Melbourne Citymission works with people experiencing disadvantage across Melbourne and Victoria. Every week we help thousands of people build a clear pathway away from economic exclusion and social isolation.
Our services support:
- people to find a pathway out of homelessness
- people with a disability to get the resources and support they need to live the life they want
- people to break the cycle of poverty and abuse
- people to find jobs, or enter into education and training.
