Community Visitors Scheme

The Community Visitors Scheme seeks volunteers who can commit to building a friendship with an older person living in an aged care home who may be lonely and isolated.

Is this program for me?

You can become a volunteer if:

  • you are over 18 years of age
  • willing to visit either weekly or fortnightly on an ongoing, one-to-one basis.
What does the program do?

The Community Visitors Scheme enriches the quality of an older person’s life through a regular friendly visitor who meets their need for company. Such visits can benefit the resident significantly.

We are looking for reliable people with effective communication skills from all backgrounds.

Please note

All volunteers are carefully matched and supported by a Community Visitor Co-ordinator.

If you could visit in the inner suburbs of Melbourne, or in the northern or western suburbs, then the Melbourne Citymission Community Visitors Scheme would love to hear from you.
