The Community Friend Program

If you are living with a disability or mental illness, we can match you with a volunteer who can help you to get out and about in the community.

Is this program for me?

We can work with you if:

  • you are aged from 18 to 65 and have a disability or a mental illness.
How do I get matched with a volunteer?

We will talk with you about:

  • your recreational interests
  • your likes and dislikes
  • what sort of person you would like to share your leisure time with.

We will also let you know what other activities that are already happening through the program and see if you would like to join in with any of these groups.

Once we have identified what you want from the program we will then try to match you with someone who best fits what you want to do with your time.

What happens once I have been matched with a volunteer?

We will support you and your volunteer to make sure that you are happy with the match and getting the most from the relationship.
