Parenting in Partnership

If you are a parent living with a learning difficulty, we can match you with another parent who can help you gain confidence and grow as a parent.

Is this program for me?

We can work with you if:

  • you are a parent living with a learning difficulty
  • you are living without paid support
  • you are living in Melbourne’s north or west.

Please note:
To be eligible for this program you must meet all of the above criteria.

How can the program assist me?

When you join up to our program we will ask you what you want to get out of your time with a parent mentor.

Your parent mentor can support you to:

  • develop your parenting skills
  • gain confidence as a parent
  • get more active in your community
  • go to local social and recreational events
  • visit places in your community that your children might like to go to.

Who will I be matched with?
The parents that we match you with are volunteers from your community. We train all volunteers so they have the skills to help you to achieve the goals you want.

How do you join the program?

We can help you become a part of the program, but first we need your case manager or other worker to call us. The first step is telling them you would like to become a part of the Parenting in Partnership Program. The second step is your worker ringing us and making a referral. Then we can come and meet with you.
