The Circles of Support Program
If your child is 3 to 12 years of age and is socially isolated, has a learning difficulty or disability, we can help them build their self-esteem, and their communication and social skills.
Is this program for me?
We can work with you if:
- your child is aged from 3 to 12 years
- your child is experiencing social isolation, living with a learning difficulty or a disability.
How can the program assist me?
We will talk with you about the skills that you would like your child to learn, which may include:
- taking part in activities with peers
- learning to share
- listening
- taking turns
- greeting/talking to other children.
We will then set up a group of children (selected from their class) to meet and interact with your child on a regular basis. Up to 8 children will join your child’s group.
We introduce the group to a range of activities that encourage the children to:
- work together
- co-operate
- enjoy playing with others.
The group activities provide opportunities for all children to build self-esteem, and communication and social skills. The groups can also provide a peer network for your child.
Where does the program operate?
Within mainstream schools, kindergartens or day-care.
