WHEELS
WHEELS focuses on supporting young people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or are currently participating in Job Services Australia to gain important life skills that will help them to link into employment and/or training.
Who does this program support?
WHEELS is for young people between the ages of 15 and 22 (inclusive) who are:
- homeless
- at risk of homelessness
- currently participating in Job Services Australia (JSA) and may need to complete some work experience hours
- have links to the North West region.
As part of Creating Connections Employment, Education and Training, Step Ahead are supporting the WHEELS programs run across the North West Region.
This program is a pre-employment/education program with 3 accredited modules (Food Hygiene, First Aid – Level 1 & Barista).
Participants will also be involved in a pre-driver education course as part of the program. WHEELS also includes learning / improving some general living and pre-employment skills and guest speaks as part of the course.
The course runs for 8 weeks every – two days a week

Referral Process
Attached you will find a referral form which contains 2 sections.
Section 1 is to be completed by the young person.
Section 2 is to be completed by the referring worker.
Once the referral is received, the young person will need to attend an interview with the WHEELS co-ordinator prior to being accepted into the program. Interviews for the program are scheduled to be held the week before a course begins. The young person will be contacted directly with an interview time.

Homelessness Accommodation and Support Services provide a range of support to young people, adults and families who are at risk of homelessness or are homelessness.
The aim of Homelessness Accommodation and Support services is to empower service users to work towards independence. We respect and value the decisions of our clients so we can provide the information, advocacy and community links that best meet their needs.
