Women’s Integrated Support Program

If you are about to leave prison, we can support you to re-settle into the community.

Is this program for me?

We can work with you if:

  • you are in custody at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre or Tarrengower prison
  • you have been sentenced
  • you have a range of issues and needs you would like support with
  • you have a minimum of 8 to 10 weeks remaining on your sentence
  • you are willing to participate in the program.
How can the program assist me?

We can offer you support with:

  • housing
  • material aid
  • legal and court issues
  • family reunification and parenting
  • mental and general health
  • links to community services and activities
  • drug and alcohol issues
  • day-to-day appointments and living skills
  • advocacy, or someone to speak on you behalf
  • integration, reintegration and resettlement into the community
  • referrals to specialist support programs.

How does the program work?
We will begin to support you for approximately 8 weeks before you are released.

We will work with you for up to 12 months after you are released.

Please note
Women must be sentenced and demonstrate a willingness to participate in the program.

Justice Programs

We offer an integrated suite of justice programs to that provide support to women whilst they are in prison, and before and after they have been released.

We are the largest provider of women’s prison services in Victoria. We are a leader and innovator in service provision. We also play an important role in shaping service development and policy direction.

Melbourne Citymission’s Justice Services is made up of four programs that support women:

  • to make a successful transition when they leave prison
  • in prison in their role as mothers
  • to assist women to build their confidence and self esteem
  • to find and keep employment, once they have been released from prison.
