Pastoral Care: Homelessness

Paul Turton is the Pastoral Care worker for Homelessness services. He is located at Frontyard Youth Services in King Street in the City of Melbourne, but also works with programmes located in other parts of Melbourne. Paul has worked in spiritual and pastoral care roles for over twenty years. Recently he has worked with people in community and public housing, working collaboratively with community workers, support workers and clients. He is committed to working at the dialogue between pastoral care and community work, and the important questions that arise about identity, belonging and meaning.

Paul also has a background in fine art and design and often seeks to integrate these skills into his work practice. He recently completed an MA thesis in Spirituality.

Paul is available to clients through Homelessness Services, including Supported accommodation programmes, Early Intervention services and Frontyard Youth services.

Paul is available Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday

Pastoral care

Pastoral care is a person-centred, holistic approach to care that complements the support offered by other Melbourne Citymission programs and services. It pays particular attention to spiritual care of the people we work with and support.

Pastoral care workers, through skilled companionship, provide people with support not only to confront particular situations, but also to explore the possibilities for personal and spiritual growth present within them.

Pastoral care workers are located in each of the Melbourne Citymission regions and are available to all clients and families, regardless of religious affiliation or personal beliefs.
