How the precinct works
The youth precinct will contain a number of integrated services, giving young people the opportunity to focus on their needs, to create a path out of homelessness.
Refuge
Our refuge will provide crisis accommodation and is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The refuge will have resources that a young people can access to help with any problems they may experience due to being homeless, such as health and legal issues, or even problems arising from Centrelink.
The refuge will also offer a case manager to works with the young person to help them secure medium to long-term accommodation. Single parents can also access this service.

Self-contained units
The self-contained units are a vital complement of the Youth Precinct. The units, which offer long-term stability and security, are a key stepping stone for a young person to explore their employment, education or training options.
Evidence shows that when offered a long-term tenancy coupled with employment, education and training options, most young people are able to establish themselves within society and live independently, well within the occupancy timeframe accessible at the precinct.

Slingshot Community Enterprise and Employment Centre (SCEEC)
Melbourne Citymission's SCEEC at the precinct is where young people can explore their employment, education and training options.
The SCEEC is dedicated to developing a young person's economic independence and social connection.
SCEEC focuses on equipping young people with self-esteem, networks within the job market and business sector, strong interpersonal skills, and cutting-edge business skills relevant to the job marketplace.

Commercial kitchen
The commercial kitchen at the precinct is a second area where young people can gain skills. Here young people can get hospitality training that can provide them a way into the job market.
