Volunteer fundraising
Volunteer fundraising is an easy way for you to contribute to Melbourne Citymission’s vision of giving disadvantaged people the best chance to participate socially and economically in our society.
Volunteer fundraising is also a great way to have some fun with your colleagues, harness community support, develop strong team relationships within your organisation, and build staff morale.
Volunteer fundraising: what is it?
Volunteer fundraising is holding an event to raise funds for Melbourne Citymission. You could put on a trivia night, go on a shopping spree, host a cocktail party, enter a sport competition, go to a band night or organise an office morning tea. The possibilities are endless.
We can help
If you are holding an event to raise funds for Melbourne Citymission, be sure to drop us a line. We can help with organising events, provide our logo for any marketing material you are producing, and we can even promote your event on our website.
If you’re thinking about holding a fundraising event for Melbourne Citymission, here is a quick list to get you started:
- Think outside the square. Do something different to make your event stand out from the crowd — something unusual is more likely to be noticed.
- Match the event to the cause. Chose an appealing theme that complements not only your organisation’s vision and mission but also Melbourne Citymission’s.
- Match the event to your audience’s needs. What kind of event would your supporters find most appealing? It’s important to choose something that your audience will enjoy and engage with.
- Partner with other organisations. This can help you distribute the workload and have a greater impact.
- Think about your event over the longer-term. How does the event fit into your organisations community support program? Is it an event that can be repeated or an event that can grow each year?
Melbourne Citymission
For 155 years, Melbourne Citymission has worked with disadvantaged people across Melbourne and Victoria. Every week we help over 4000 people build a clear pathway out of disadvantage, economic exclusion and social isolation.
Our services support:
- people to find a pathway out of homelessness
- disabled people to get the resources and support they need to live the life they want
- people able to break the cycle of poverty and abuse
- people to find jobs, or enter into education and training.
