Workplace giving
Melbourne Citymission is a non-denominational organisation committed to providing people who are marginalised the best chance to participate socially and economically in our society.
Focusing on people and communities experiencing disadvantage, we have been working in Melbourne and Victoria for over 150 years.
The strength of our programs and services lies in their ability to connect people to their local communities. Our solutions are never a quick fix and always take into account individual and well as local concerns.
Workplace giving: what is it?
Workplace Giving is regular donations deducted from your employees' salary.
Workplace giving: why you should consider it?
It:
- could form a vital part of your Corporate Social Responsibility program
- demonstrates your commitment to your community
- builds your business profile within the business and wider community
- allows us to make long-term plans.
Workplace giving: what are the other advantages?
Donations are deducted before tax, and reduce your employees’ taxable income. What’s more, because the donations come out before tax, it only costs each employee 52 cents in every dollar *. The Australian Taxation Office pays the rest.
*Based on a marginal tax rate of 48.5%
Workplace giving can be easily managed through your company’s payroll system. Any employee on the Pay As You Earn tax system can sign up.
Workplace giving: it all adds up
$5.00 x 4 weeks = $20
$20 x 12 months = $240
$240 pa x 100 employees = $24,000
$24,000 supports a number of Melbourne Citymission services that in turn assists ? clients.
