Placed Based Services — Hume, Broadmeadows
Using a Community Development approach Melbourne Citymission’s Place Based Services work in partnership with key stakeholders and people living in the Broadmeadows Community Neighbourhood Renewal (BCNR) area to improve outcomes for children and their families. This means that we listen to people and work with them to develop programs, services and responses that meet their needs.
At the Meadows Primary School we run:
- a Breakfast Club
- a Learning Club
We are also an active member of the BCNR Action Team.
The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club provides children with a nutritious breakfast to help them optimise their learning during the school day, while creating paid employment and training opportunities for local residents, many of whom have little or no work history.
The Learning Club
The Learning Club supports children who are experiencing difficulty at school, either academically or socially. Each participant is matched with a volunteer tutor to support them in a range of educational activities and instil a sense of enjoyment facilitated by learning.
