Melbourne Citymission is completing a discussion paper for the Victorian Office of Housing, Department of Human Service on concepts of early intervention and prevention for young people experiencing homelessness.

Child Protection and Homelessness Project (ARACY Seeding Grant)

Melbourne Citymission, along with project partners Mission Australia, and researchers at the University of South Australia, Australian Catholic University, and the UNSW is developing three interconnected research applications on children, child protection and homelessness.

Women and Justice

Cairnlea Evaluation

Together with Dr Marie Segrave and Dr Bree Carlton of Monash University, Melbourne Citymission is currently undertaking an evaluation of the Cairnlea housing and support service for women exiting prison. The evaluation will examine and document the effectiveness of this housing and support service model for this population.

Education and Employment

Braybrook- Maidstone Youth Partnership Research Grant - Healthy and Sustainable Futures for Young People living in areas of disadvantage (ARC Linkage Grant)

Melbourne Citymission, together with Professor Anne Kavanagh, Professor Doreen Rosenthal and Kate Mason at the University of Melbourne, is undertaking a longitudinal study of young people living in an urban area of social and economic disadvantage. This research examines the relationship between health and well being and young people’s pathways to post compulsory education, employment and training.

Skills Victoria Reforms (Discussion Paper)

From the 1st July 2009, the first stage of series of reforms Victoria’s Vocational Education and Training sector will be implemented across the State. These reforms are part of the Victorian Government’s new Skills Policy entitled Securing Jobs for Your Future – Skills for Victoria. Melbourne Citymission has developed a discussion paper which examines the potential implications of these reforms for people experiencing disadvantage and makes a number of recommendations in regard to amending and monitoring the policy implementation.

Melbourne Citymission is currently completing a discussion paper and a position paper on the value of social inclusion and social exclusion frameworks for framing responses policy responses to social disadvantage.

Melbourne Citymission is currently completing a discussion paper and a position paper on the value of ideas about locational disadvantage for framing policy responses to social disadvantage.

Disability services and individualised funding

The Victorian State Government is currently undertaking a service reorientation which will result in individualised funding models for disability services. Melbourne Citymission is currently developing a position paper on this development.
