Community Integration and Accommodation Options
Based on a lead tenant model, Community Integration and Accommodation Options (CIAO) is a supported accommodation program for young people aged between 15 and 18 years who are on a statutory order (Protective and Youth Justice) and in transition out of home-care services (Department of Human Services).
Who does the program support?
Young people must be on a statutory order (Protective &/or Youth Justice).
How does the program work?
The program provides a diverse range of intensive, holistic supports to enable young people to develop the skills necessary for healthy and sustainable independent living.
The program also supports young people to access educational, vocational and permanent stable housing options on exiting the service.
The program uses the Lead Tenant volunteer model of care. Lead Tenant volunteers reside with young people and are recruited to provide a positive role model and to assist with living skills development.
