Staff members

All of our staff are qualified and experienced in planning and implementing high quality early childhood education programs.

Philosophy and type of program

Laurimar Kindergarten advocates play as the most appropriate method for teaching all children attending the centre. Play based programs are developed on a sound knowledge of child development and a strong belief that children have a natural curiosity which enables them to learn through exploration of their environment. The children are active learners who have unlimited potential to direct their own learning when provided with a rich environment which promotes opportunities for learning through various stimuli.

As educators, it is our belief that we are responsible for facilitating each child’s learning journey by providing a stimulating environment where adults are able to scaffold the already existing knowledge of the child. In order to achieve this, each child needs to feel nurtured, safe and respected in their learning environment. Thus, the promotion of a high self esteem in all children is an integral part of our programming and forms the underlying principles behind the behaviour management strategies that we use. Behaviour should always be managed in a positive way, through re-direction, modelling and discussion with the children.

Laurimar Kindergarten aims to involve all parents in the development of programs which are inclusive to the needs of not only the children at our centre but also their families and the wider community.

Teachers are committed to improving their skills and knowledge and to staying abreast of changes occurring within the field. Ongoing reflection and evaluation allow all staff to offer the best opportunities for the children they teach.
