Young and Pregnant Parenting Program

Young and Pregnant Parenting Program (YaPP) provides supported playgroup and case management for young parents (from 15 to 25 years of age) and their children who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

Who does the program support?

The program works with young people:

  • aged from 15 to 25
  • who are pregnant or parents
  • who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • who live or have connection to the western region of Melbourne.
How does the program work?

We support young parents with:

  • referrals and support
  • supported playgroups that offer links to education and training as well as parenting support
  • referrals and support to access housing
  • reinforcement on positive ways to parent
  • material aid
  • information on healthy nutrition for infants and children
  • supportive groups focused on parent–child bonding
  • pathways to education and community links
  • opportunities for peer support
  • information about and referrals to health care providers.

Early Intervention Homelessness Programs

The Early Intervention portfolio (homelessness) provides a diverse range of programs that responds to the needs of young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. The intention of all programs is to provide a framework of practice that remains youth focused whilst maintaining an inclusive approach to a young person’s connection to family, significant other and their community. All programs provide direct work whilst undertaking community development initiatives.
