Family Crisis Accommodation Service

Family Crisis Accommodation Service (FCAS) provides case management and outreach support to families who are at imminent risk of homelessness or are homeless in the local government areas of Brimbank and Melton.

Who does the program support?

The program is available to:

  • families — a couple with or without children, single parent families, women who are pregnant, women with or without their children, sibling groups and multi-generational families
  • families living in or have significant links in the Brimbank or Melton local government areas
  • families experiencing housing difficulties or at risk of homelessness.
How does the program work?

FCAS can assist families with the following:

  • advice, information and advocacy including internet private rental searches and referrals for specialist support
  • completing Office of Housing Bond Loan and Early Housing applications.

FCAS has six crisis properties within in the Brimbank or Melton local government areas that families can stay in for between 6 and 12 weeks. As a condition of the tenancy the family must be willing to engage with the support to explore options for long-term accommodation.

Please note

All referrals must be directed through Salvation Army Social Housing Service (SASHS) Initial Assessment and Planning (IA&P) Workers for initial assessment.
