Andrew Carter, (Chair)
Andrew is Managing Director of Commercial Eyes Pty Ltd, a leading health technology commercialisation business providing commercialisation services to local and international pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology companies. In addition to his role at Commercial Eyes, Andrew is a non-executive director of a number of private companies, a member of numerous of medicine industry committees and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Andrew is married to Cynthia, is an active member of the Camberwell Salvation Army and a passionate member of the Geelong Football Club.

Boyne Alley (Honorary Treasurer)Boyne has held senior management and board positions with Myer for over 25 years, was a Chief General Manager of the State Bank of Victoria, held the senior finance, IT and administrative positions in World Vision Australia and was an International Vice President of World Vision International. He has lectured in finance and in governance for a number of other professional bodies. He is the former president of the Victorian Division of CPA Australia and a past deputy president of CPA Australia. Currently the Treasurer of Light FM Inc and Chair of Trans World radio, Boyne is a deacon at North Balwyn Baptist and sits on the board of Baptist Village Baxter Ltd. Boyne says he joined the board of Melbourne Citymission to make a contribution using the skills he has acquired over a 40 year working career.

Joanna Betteridge
Joanna joined the Board in 2004 and is a member of the Board Audit and Risk Committee. She practices as a lawyer in the employment and educational health and safety areas of law. Operating her own law practice and consulting business since 2004, Joanna is an accredited mediator and lectures in OH&S and workplace law for Monash University. Joanna also sits on the Board of Austin Health and is a consulting director at TEAR Australia. She is a member of the Advisory Panel for the Monash University Law Faculty Master of Laws coursework program, specialising in Workplace and Employment Law.
Joanna previously provided Melbourne Citymission with pro bono legal services for many years. This she says allowed her to “gain an appreciation for the depth of the work done by Melbourne Citymission, the extraordinary needs in the community and the outstanding quality of all the people and programs”.

Philip HuntPhilip Hunt is the Chief Executive of VicRelief Foodbank, the major supplier of food and material aid to the emergency relief sector in Victoria. He had a 23 year career with World Vision including CEO roles in Hong Kong, Australia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Philip also serves on the Boards of Light-FM and TWR Australia. He has a BA (Journalism) and an MBA.

Catherine McGovern
Catherine joined Medibank in August 2009 as Group Manager, Government & Public Affairs. She is responsible for regulatory, policy and government affairs as well as media and public relations. Prior to this, Catherine worked in government relations for GlaxoSmithKline in the UK, Europe and Australia for nearly ten years. She also has experience in merchant banking as well as politics, notably as the industry adviser for the then Minister of Industry Science and Resources, Senator The Hon Nick Minchin. Catherine holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours, Economic History) from Monash University and enjoys reading, going to gym and the theatre as well as spending time outdoors. She and her husband Paul also love hiking, travelling and cooking.

Ros OtzenDr Roslyn Otzen, an educationist, was Principal of Korowa Anglican Girls' School 1991-2003. Roslyn is also a historian, writing the biography of Melbourne Citymission founder Dr John Singleton. She is Chair of the Grants Committee of the Invergowrie Foundation, the President of Whitley College, University of Melbourne, Chair of the Anglican Diocesan Schools Commission and a member of the Committee of Convocation of the University of Melbourne. She is also a Deacon and Secretary of the Collins Street Baptist Church. Ros says she was motivated to become involved with Melbourne Citymission by the deep experience and committed staff, who find the best way to assist people while ensuring their dignity and potential are preserved and enhanced. “Melbourne Citymission is an outstanding advocate for better policy and practice and has had a remarkable influence in the development of sound government policy for the disadvantaged. I want to be part of Melbourne Citymission’s vibrancy, its values and its will to make a difference, by contributing the skills and wisdom I have built over many years.”

John RoseJohn joined the Board in 2009. He brings expertise in marketing, fundraising and communications from years of experience as Principal of R2L & Associates. Prior to R2L, John spent over 25 years with World Vision, initially in Australia and then as Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs for World Vision International. He is a past Chair and board member of Kilvington Girls Grammar School. John says, “I am committed to see Melbourne Citymission develop its impact and effectiveness as it seeks to improve the lives of children, young people and families who live each day at the edge of society – in Melbourne and throughout Victoria.”

Di McDonald
Di has an extensive background and formal qualifications in business development and management in the healthcare and disability fields. Her experience, sitting on Boards and Advisory Boards, are in both Executive and Non-executive positions, primarily in privately owned corporations specialising in health and disability management. Di has held a range of senior leadership and management roles in medium sized to international health organisations, and is currently Acting CEO for the Jean Hailes Foundation for women’s health. Di considers it a great privilege to be on the Melbourne Citymission Board. She is highly committed to contributing to the development of accessible and effective pathways that provide at-risk and disadvantaged people with access to critical support services, opportunities and resources that will ensure their personal well-being, and empower them to achieve their full potential.
