  • Volunteer Live-In Youth Mentors (Lead Tenant)

    We are currently seeking a Volunteer Lead Tenant to assist the Community Integration and Accommodation Options (CIAO) program at Melbourne City Mission which provides accommodation and support services to young people who are on statutory orders (which include child protection and/or youth justice orders).
    Days & hours required
    You will live in one of our properties located in Thornbury, Richmond, Fairfield and Pascoe Vale with the young residents for a minimum of five nights per week.
  • Post Release Peer Support Network and Mentors

    We are currently seeking a Volunteer to provide men exiting Ravenhall Correctional Centre with practical support, and in addition, assist them with what is required according to their expressed needs.
    Days & hours required
    Capacity to be available for a minimum of two hours per week or as agreed with Pastoral Care Coordinator. This will depend on the capacity of the volunteer and the needs of the individual. The lever of support may increase if there are no other supports in place for the participant such as no family support or they are not involved with Emerge.

    Volunteers will receive the following support from Melbourne City Mission and the Pastoral Care Coordinator:

    • Clear Position Description and outline of expectations
    • Induction/orientation to Melbourne City Mission and Ravenhall prior to taking on clients
    • Access to training and professional development
    • Monthly supervision
    • Access to Melbourne City Mission Human Resources systems and supports including dispute resolution supervision.
  • Befriending the elderly (Community Visitor Scheme)

    We seek volunteers who can commit to building a friendship with an older person living in an aged care home or in their own home who may be lonely and isolated.

  • Become a friend to a person with a disability (Community Friend Program)

    Volunteers are required to assist with a social support program for people with mild/moderate disabilities, primarily in the Northern and Eastern suburbs and in Brimbank in the West. Volunteers are matched to an individual to help them access the community, make new friends and socialise.
