National Homeless Person's Week 2008
National Homeless Person's Week will run from 4-10 August 2008. The aim of this week is to raise awareness of homelessness amongst the community. Melbourne Citymission's Homelessness Campaign will once again run alongside National Homeless Person's Week, and aims to highlight:
- that 23,000 people are homeless in Victoria on any given night
- that 7,000 of these are aged between 12 and 24 years
- what homelessness is
- the causes and consequences of homelessness
- the measures that Melbourne Citymission want to take to address the issue of homelessness
Melbourne Citymission's Homelessness Campaign 2008 will include the annual Homelessness Breakfast, and community fundraising activities (PJ Day and Winter Sleep Out).
