Celebration of exceptional ability in the west
Western Chances, founded by Terri Bracks, bridges the gap for children and young people in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs to ensure that lack of resources does not prevent them from obtaining educational, cultural or social opportunities.
Western Chances Scholarships are granted to young people with demonstrated talents and abilities to assist them realise their potential. The catchment areas for these scholarships are Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melton, Moonee Valley and Wyndham local government areas.
On Wednesday 19th October two members of the Western Young People’s Independent Network (WYPIN) - auspiced by Melbourne Citymission - will receive their scholarships.
Yasmin Idris will receive a scholarship for textbooks and related study expenses and Chibak Deng’s scholarship will provide a computer with Internet access and money to cover travel costs.
An informal presentation will take place at Melbourne Citymission’s offices at 214 Nicholson Street Footscray at 4:oopm on Wednesday 19th October.
