Triple inspiration for the West
Three, talented young women from the West who have earned Western Chances scholarships will be honoured with a morning tea at 10.30am this coming Thursday 24th at Melbourne Citymission Western, 214 Nicholson St Footscray.
For the last two years, each of the women has enthusiastically dedicated themselves to participating in the Melbourne Citymission Tutoring Group, a support group set up for young people in secondary education living in the West.
The young women who all recently completed their VCE, are going on to complete various tertiary degrees at Victoria University with the help of the scholarship (see below for more detail).
Mary O’Brien, Coordinator of the Melbourne Citymission Tutoring Group who nominated the three young women for the scholarship described them as enthusiastic, committed and dedicated. “I am so proud of them, its such an outstanding achievement, their commitment to their studies is an inspiration and their work is of such a high standard. Not to mention they are delightful.”
“All the young women are really appreciative of the award. The scholarship will help with things like books, computers, transport and enrolment fees. It provides a bit of a helping hand so they don’t have to worry about those sorts of things getting in the way of their studies,” said Ms O’Brien.
