Children and family support

Disability is an issue that can involve the whole family whereby all family members are affected and have an important part to play in the support of a child, parent or sibling with a special need. Below you will find a list of the support services we provide.

Early Childhood Development

Early Childhood Development provides a specialist service for families of children (0–6 years) with a developmental delay / disability. Our staff aim to work in partnership with families and respond to family needs and choices by providing support, information and resources.

Better Start and Helping Children with Autism

Melbourne City Mission is a member of the Early Intervention Service Provider Panel for the Better Start (BSI) and Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) Initiatives. Children who are registered for funding through one of the initiatives can access a range of supports through Melbourne City Mission. To find out eligibility for HCWA phone 1800 424 499, or BSI phone 1800 242 636.

Norparrin

Norparrin provides a wide range of support services for young children (from birth to school age) with developmental delay and disabilities, and their families.
Respite
1800 343 287
Respite provides families with a short-term break while someone else supports the person with a disability. Our service aims to enhance the quality of life for both the person with a disability and the carer, while respecting their individual needs.
