Your NDIS Service
For over 160 years Melbourne City Mission has been serving the people of Victoria. Having proven our capability and values, the Government entrusted us with money, to spend on meeting people’s needs.
That put the focus on us. Now the focus is all on you. With NDIS you are now a customer with money to spend.
It’s all about you. You, your carer, family and supporters are at the centre of everything we do, as a registered provider with the NDIS.
What is the NDIS?
The NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme, where you plan and purchase your own disability services.
When is it happening?
The Barwon area was first, in July 2013. The full Victoria-wide rollout began in July 2016 and everyone will be covered by July 2019.
How does it work?
Confirm your budget, go online shopping for services and purchase your supports. If you want, you can choose a Melbourne City Mission planner from our Customer Services team.
Together you and your planner will work out what supports you want to purchase – from us or another organisation.
You will be the main decision-maker, choosing the supports you want, so you can achieve your goals.
Don’t stress about wading through all the different organisations, services and supports. Your planner can tell you about all the options, without unfairly favouring Melbourne City Mission services.
This is an exciting time for us here at Melbourne City Mission. We have been advocating for this change for years. We believe that you have the right to obtain the support you want, so you can empower yourself and meet your individual needs, goals and aspirations.

If you already work with us, you’ll notice a change. It won’t be ‘we provide this service’ anymore.
It will be ‘how can we be of service?’
We welcome this. We want you to be our customer. We’ll listen to you intently and we are working very hard to give you great reasons to choose us.
