FRMP brokerage

Funds are available for:

• Individual therapeutic support (counselling, psychotherapy and alternative therapies such as art therapy, music therapy, equine therapy)
• Family therapy
• Family mediation

These interventions are provided by FRMP approved psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, family therapists, family mediators, mental health social workers and alternative therapists.

Ten sessions per application.

Support workers are responsible for:

• Assisting the young person/family to arrange the initial appointment with the private practitioner. Where possible, subsequent appointments can be made by the young person themselves.

• Supporting the young person to attend therapeutic sessions. Cancelling or rescheduling appointments with 24 hrs notice avoids the young person losing one of the 10 sessions granted.

• Maintaining contact with private practitioners throughout the intervention. This will ensure that both parties are working together to support the young person to achieve their goals.

• Notifying both FRMP and the private practitioner if they are no longer working with the young person or if the young person has disengaged from FRMP funded sessions.

Ensure that the young person meets FRMP eligibility criteria

Contact private practitioners listed in the FRMP Private Practitioner Register to find an appropriate match for the young person. The following details should be considered:

• Practitioner availability
• Practitioner location
• Practitioner experience and expertise to support young person’s needs

Use the FRMP Therapeutic Application Form to apply for brokerage on the young person’s behalf.

Inform the young person of the requirement to complete FRMP Pre and Post Therapeutic Interventions Evaluation Forms and when required, support the young person to do so.

FRMP staff are available to assist Support Workers to complete application forms. Please do not hesitate to contact our team if you have any questions or require any support.

Funds or grocery vouchers are available to assist with the living costs associated with a young person’s short-term respite with a carer (e.g. extended family members or family friends), while family reunification or other housing options are explored.

Please note that in addition to applications for respite funding, support workers are encouraged to consider submitting an application for Therapeutic Interventions on the young person’s behalf.

What FRMP will not fund:

• Emergency accommodation
• Unsafe and inappropriate accommodation.

Please note, funds or vouchers to go directly to carers only.

Support Workers are responsible for:

• Ensuring that the young person meets FRMP eligibility criteria.
  

• Using the Respite Funding for Carers Form to apply for respite funding on the young person’s behalf.

• Only submitting applications for respite funding when they believe that the temporary accommodation is a safe and appropriate option for the young person.

• Including information on the Respite Funding for Carers Form that relates to how the young person is being supported to meet FRMP objectives.
  

• Completing and/or supporting the young person to complete program evaluation forms, as required.
  

Funds are available for an agency to develop their own group-based program or to deliver one that is already established.

Eligible group-based activities include:

• Group therapy sessions, for example: psychoeducational groups; AOD, family violence & mental health support groups; art and music therapy groups; anger management groups, etc.
• Group work sessions, for example: parent education, living skills groups; group-based recreational activities, etc.

FRMP brokerage does not cover wages for any internal agency staff.

Participation in group-based activities should support young people to achieve goals related to FRMP objectives.

Refer to FRMP objectives and eligibility criteria.

Agencies are responsible for:

• Identifying/developing group work/group therapy programs that meet the needs of young people accessing their service.

• Where necessary, ensuring that the organisation providing the group-based activity meets the appropriate legal requirements for working with young people.

• Submitting the Funding Your Own Group Group Work/Group Therapy Application Form.

• Supporting young people to attend the sessions.

• Ensuring relevant Support Workers maintain contact with group facilitators throughout the intervention. This will ensure that both parties are working together to support the young person to achieve their goals.

• Notifying FRMP if the group work/group therapy sessions do not commence within one month of the planned date and/or if the group work/group therapy ceases.

• Ensuring FRMP is acknowledged in all promotion of the group work/group therapy sessions or if they result in any public exhibitions, publications or reports.

Ensure that the young people meet FRMP eligibility criteria.

For established group-based programs, ensure the program and program facilitators are an appropriate fit for the young people. The following details should be considered:

• Facilitator’s experience and expertise to support young person’s needs

• Organisation meets legal requirements for working with young people.

Use the FRMP Funding to Run Your Own Group Application Form to apply for brokerage to run the group-based sessions.

Inform the young people of the requirement to complete Pre and Post Evaluation Forms and when required, support the young person to do so.

Once the application has been approved, FRMP will contact the organisation to arrange payment.

Please note that payment to your organisation may take up to four weeks from application approval.

Comply with FRMP acquittal of funds process once the group work/group therapy sessions have been completed.

Funds are available for individual young people to participate in existing group-based activities. Eligible group-based activities include:

• Group therapy sessions, for example: psychoeducational groups; AOD, family violence & mental health support groups; art and music therapy groups; mindfulness and meditation groups; anger management groups, etc.
• Group work sessions, for example: living skills, team building, group-based recreational activities, etc.

Funding is to cover fees only. Alternative sources of funding should be accessed for associated materials and equipment.

Up to $500.00 per application.

Two applications per financial year.

Participation in group-based activities should support young people to achieve goals related to FRMP objectives:

• stay or return home, if safe and appropriate, and/or
• recover from trauma related to family conflict and breakdown, and/or
• connect/reconnect with family or other natural supports.

Support Workers are responsible for:

• Assisting the young person to identify appropriate group-based activities and submitting the Funding to Attend an Existing Group Application Form
• Ensuring that the organisation providing the group-based activity meets the legal requirements for working with young people.
• Supporting the young person to attend the initial session. If necessary, the young person should also be supported to attend subsequent sessions.
• Maintaining contact with group facilitators throughout the intervention. This will ensure that both parties are working together to support the young person to achieve their goals.
• Notifying FRMP if you are no longer working with the young person or if the young person has disengaged from FRMP funded sessions.

Contact the organisation providing the group-based activity to ensure it is an appropriate fit for the young person. The following details should be considered:

• Organisation’s location
• Whether the group facilitator has the experience and expertise to support young person’s needs
• Whether the organisation meets legal requirements for working with young people.

Use the FRMP Funding to Attend an Existing Group Application Form to apply for brokerage on the young person’s behalf.

Inform the young person of the requirement to complete FRMP Pre and Post Group Work/Therapy Evaluation Forms and if required, support the young person to do so.

Once the application has been approved, FRMP will contact the organisation to arrange direct payment. Please note that the cost of the group work/therapy should not exceed $500.00.
Please note that applications must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the commencement of the first group-based session.
