Braybrook and Maidstone
The Braybrook Maidstone Youth Partnership (BMYP) is a groundbreaking collaboration between state and local government and the not-for-profit sector.
What are we doing?
- Putting in place structures that enable better coordination of services for young people experiencing disadvantage in Braybrook and Maidstone; and
- Collectively undertaking long-term service planning.
How we are doing this?
- Investing in cross-agency, cross-government and cross-sectoral service responses for young people, rather than rejuvenating targeted responses that have had limited success in the past.
-
Leading integrated service delivery and program
planning that will achieve clearly-identified health, education, training and
employment outcomes for young people in Braybrook and Maidstone, including:
- More community participation and better engagement in decision-making, especially by young people.
- Increased capacity of young people to make a successful transition from secondary school to post-school options.
- Improved access to - and participation in - sustained and sustainable employment.
- Improved access to - and participation in - health support services and personal and familial support structures.
- Sustainability - including a long-term commitment to local coordination and planning.
We are also focusing on action research
Before planning the next phase, we are evaluated this project, in order to record and understand the process by which change takes place, and reflect on the actions that have been taken.
The Youth Enterprise Hub (YEH)
In addition to leading the Braybrook-Maidstone Youth Partnership, Melbourne Citymission opened the Youth Enterprise Hub (YEH) in December 2007.
