Family Reconciliation Mediation Program

The Family Reconciliation Mediation Program (FRMP) is a statewide program that originated from the Youth Homelessness Action Plan (YHAP1) as one of the initiatives of the Victorian Homelessness Strategy.

The program supports and strengthens the capacity of the Youth Homelessness Sector to respond to young people in a youth centred, family inclusive approach.  The community development team carries out this work through providing a range of training and professional development opportunities.  The community development team also supports a number of family reconciliation peer support groups in Victoria.

FRMP also provides access to a brokerage response for the Youth Homelessness Sector to support young people to reconnect with family, support young people to resolve issues within themselves and where possible to facilitate a return home.  FRMP can provide brokerage for individual counselling, family counselling, family mediation and family therapy where existing services do not exist and where this intervention is part of the young person's case plan.
