Changes to transport for Melbourne City Mission Disability Services

decorative 5 September 2018

Melbourne City Mission will implement changes to transport for our Disability Services from 31 January 2019

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has a strong focus on supporting people with disability to maximise their independence, capacity and confidence.

For many NDIS participants, this includes learning how to use transport independently, or accessing suitable transport support as identified and funded in their NDIS plan.

To ensure Melbourne City Mission complies with the NDIS guidelines and supports people to grow their independence, from 31 January 2019 we will no longer provide or arrange transport for customers.

This will be a big change for the customers, carers and families we support.

We are providing early notice of this change and information about alternative options to ensure customers and families have five to six months to explore their options and make arrangements.

Transport and the Community Support program

Melbourne City Mission will no longer provide transport to, from or during community support events from 31 January 2019.

We will be working with customers, support coordinators and plan managers, to identify suitable alternative transport arrangements from 31 January 2019.

More information

All current Melbourne City Mission customers who receive generic transport services have been sent a letter about these changes and a flyer which details alternative transport options.

Download the Disability Transport Options flyer for more information.
