Our commitment to the safety of children & young people

Melbourne City Mission is committed to the safety of all children and young people.

We want all children and young people to be safe, happy, empowered, supported and respected.

We have zero tolerance of child abuse, or any other abuse and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously.

We have legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are worried about a child’s or young person’s safety, which we will follow rigorously.

We are committed to preventing all forms of abuse, especially child abuse, by identifying risks early, and by removing and reducing these risks.

We have robust human resources and recruitment practices for all staff and volunteers supported by regular training and education on child safety to ensure we can fulfil this commitment.

We support and respect the diversity and individuality of all children and young people, irrespective of age, gender, sexual orientation or identity, belief, ability or culture.

If you believe a child is at immediate risk of abuse phone 000.
