When we work with you, we pay particular attention to your physical, spiritual, social and cultural needs. Your dignity and quality of life come first.

The support and resources we provide, include:

  • expert symptom and pain management
  • education for client and carer
  • co-ordination of care and help with planning and resources
  • help with advance care planning and living wills
  • listening and companionship
  • professional support with emotional and spiritual concerns
  • bereavement support and information about grief.

How does the service work?

We will visit you in your home or residential-care facility and adapt our care to your needs.

We will work in partnership with:

  • you
  • your carers
  • your hospital
  • community services, general practitioners and specialist doctors who may be involved with your care.

Palliative Care

We support the terminally ill and their carers by enabling access to interdisciplinary community care that improves quality of life.

Opened in 1981, Melbourne Citymission Palliative Care is the first community-based palliative care service to run in Victoria.

We are leader in providing expert symptom management and practical support to people who have a life-limiting illness.

We offer our clients and their families not only the physical, spiritual, social and cultural support they need but also maximised choice, dignity and quality of life.
