Get your school involved

We get lots of requests from school students around Victoria about the work we do and how they can help. If you are one of them, great! We rely on schools like yours to help us continue our work in the community. Here you will find some information that we hope will help you with school projects and also give you some ideas for fundraising.

A bit about us

We’ve been around for almost as long as Melbourne itself, in fact since 1854! Melbourne was founded just 19 years earlier, in 1835. Now with over 800 staff and more than 300 volunteers we deliver over 80 programs each week, in all areas of the community including homelessness, disability, education, employment and justice.

Youth homelessness

Our work in youth homelessness is an area in which school students are often interested. Did you know there are almost 23,000 people who are homeless in Victoria and about half of them are under the age of 25? We work with young people to help them find accommodation and to turn their lives around so they don't become homeless again.

Frontyard Youth Services

One of our largest services addressing youth homelessness is Frontyard Youth Services. Frontyard works with young people between the ages of 12 to 25 who are already experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless to address their physical, social and emotional needs.
