The MCM Palliative Care Team recently underwent their 2-day accreditation assessment as part of the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) organisation wide survey, to confirm reaccreditation for the next 4 years.

Accreditation by an independent health care body works to improve and maintain a high standard of healthcare throughout Australia.

The ACHS surveyors praised the maturity of MCM’s program and indicated a rating of MA (Marked Achievement) will be applied across the 13 standards and 47 criteria of the Evaluation and Quality Improvement Program (EQuIP).

EQuIP is based upon the following principles:

  • A consumer focus in care provision to ensure patients are the priority.
  • Effective leadership demonstrating responsibility and commitment to excellence in care provision.
  • Continuous improvement of management and staff in how they continually strive to improve the quality of care.
  • Evidence of outcomes through measurement and analysis of performance.
  • Striving for best practice including learning from others and applying best-practice principles.
