MCM Federal Election Platform 2022

Group of young people standing outside smiling. 26 April 2022

The isolating effect of the pandemic has been felt acutely by Australia’s young people, with lockdown and emergency measures disrupting the routines and connections that keep young people safe and engaged.  Many have been exposed to increased risk of family violence, mental health pressures, school disengagement and insecure housing.

The upcoming Federal Election is an opportunity to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all young people and to ensure they are not left behind as Australia recovers from COVID-19.

That is why we are calling on all parties and candidates to adopt these goals in the lead up to the election:

  • Goal 1: Young people can find a secure and affordable home
  • Goal 2: Young people are supported to live in dignity
  • Goal 3: Young people are kept safe and free from violence
  • Goal 4: Young people have the mental health supports they need
  • Goal 5: Young people have accessible and inclusive education
  • Goal 6: All young people are recognised, valued and included
  • Goal 7: Young people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else
